For the second year, St. Stephen’s Community House is proud to be a site for Cops and Barbers free back-to-school haircut event taking place on Monday, August 19th from 12 PM – 5 PM.
Started in 2018 by third-generation Columbus police officer, Pete Casuccio, who patrols South Linden, and his barber, Robert Cayson, who moved to Columbus after he was released from prison in order to get away from negative influences in his hometown. Due to limited job opportunities available to people with felonies, he became a barber. Rob volunteers through numerous organizations, focusing his volunteer efforts on ways to keep boys from following the path he did. Cops and Barbers is the result of Pete and Rob’s mutual desire to help the youth of the inner city. Pete and Rob met in the barbershop, became friends, and now consider each other family.
Children who participate this year will receive a variety of school supplies from Cops and Barbers.
Interested families must call Mr. Brown at 614-551-9307 to schedule your appointment.
Please note that haircuts are only for boys at this time. There will be crafts available for girls to participate in. Both boys and girls who participate will receive school supplies.
Families must also complete two release forms. You may bring the forms with you to your appointment or you can email them directly to kdillard@saintstephensch.org
